Bp. Ignatie (Trif):
You see, when someone disappoints us and slams our soul by a brutal word and destroys us as beings… then we say, “Look, I’ve done so many things for you, I invested a pile of love, a huge one… and how do you respond to me? I don’t even want to hear from you again! I want to delete you from the register of my existence!” Forgive my expression, “It makes me feel sick to see you!”
This is what we people do when someone does wrong against us. Maybe it happened only once! Or when he or she falls from this love that we enjoy and which we wanted to be constant, to always surround us… and we drop him or her from our arms, we throw him or her as a mundane thing, as if we didn’t meet him or her, we didn’t intersect him or her before, he or she didn’t fill our soul or life… How easily…
It is Christ who humbles Himself on the Cross, loving us especially when we didn’t deserve it!
And, in fact, one of the qualities of humility, one of the ingredients of humility, it is to love the other one when he or she doesn’t deserve this… when you say, according to your human mind, humanly speaking, wrongly sometimes, that he or she does not deserve to receive your love…
And then you love him or her even more… that’s one of the qualities of humility…
Do you see how hard it is to reach this state?
