He was a modern-day hermit living in a ‘cave’. A truly joy-filled man, as one can see the precious moment when he opens the Royal [Holy] Doors…

I spent a night in his cell in the 70s. I was his reader for vespers and compline. We ate ancient bread (that’s a story in itself!) with honey and ants.
