Bishop Atanasije (Jevtic) talks about St. Nikolai Velimirovich and the vision of the Holy Spirit: “While the West enriches the world with books, Orthodoxy enriches the world with saints!”
Bishop Atanasije:
St. Nikolai translated the Conversation with Motovilov, the disciple of St. Seraphim of Sarov, I think you know…
He wrote a prologue.
“While I was there,” he says… “in the West, in Europe, I read Adolf Harnack’s book, two thousand pages about the essence of Christianity.
I finished the 2000 pages, but I didn’t manage to understand what the essence of Christianity is!
“I read then St. Seraphim of Sarov’s conversation with Nicholas Motovilov which is half a page”, he writes in his prologue, “then I understood the essence of Christianity: the vision of the Holy Spirit!”
This is the goal and the essence of Christianity!
And he writes, it was characteristic to him, how to say it… in his own style:
“While the West enriches the world with books, Orthodoxy enriches the world with saints!”
One like those is St. Nikolai!
